Upon recommendation by the Study Committee on an Independent Police Oversight Commission, which I chaired, City Council voted unanimously to adopt Policy Resolution 2021-14 and Ordinance No. 1503, formally establishing East Lansing’s Independent Police Oversight Commission. My role concluded with the delivery of the Task Force’s final recommendations and the successful transition from study and design to enacted city policy.
